Neo Victoria in 2011
Noticed something different? How about 18 pages?
NeoVictoria is a webcomic that’s pretty dear to my heart. It’s a story that’s not only very personal, it’s also unlike anything else I’ve been a part of. Through the years I’ve written adventure stories, horror stories, even the occasional piece of (fairly bad) poetry. And I love writing that stuff, it’s a ton of fun to craft and a blast to read. However, a little over 5 years ago my first son was born and I knew I had to write something a little different. Neo Victoria was born at that moment.
It took a while to put the framework of a story together, and it took a while longer to find an artist that could create what was needed. Marc McKenzie is that artist. The production has slowed a bit the last six months due to a lot of stuff going on in our personal and professional lives, but, for now at least, a big leap was made and we’re moving forward.
I’ve posted the first 18 pages of Neo Victoria as a way to say this project is still here and it’s still moving forward. True, most of these pages are rough pencils, but, you know, so what. I think they look great, the script is really coming to life, and Marc’s roughs give a great indication of the quality book we’re making here. So check them out, write in some comments, and share with your friends. As pages are updated with inks or colors, I’ll swap them out. It’ll be a growing book for a while, and all of you get to be a part of it.
Also, as we’re beginning to put art pages up, I’ll start filling in a lot of the behind the scenes stuff — character bios, world history and geo-politics, and a bunch of other tidbits here and there. I’ll also be posting reviews of stuff we like, same as we do on the other two books (SOLDIERS and The Guard for those who don’t already follow them). Hopefully, Marc and I will be able to keep some steady progress on this book, but even if it isn’t as steady as we’d like — it is making progress.
